It will be happier

Electra hinted us about this new site - My Whisperings - and its interesting challenge (Quotography) created by Kaylene.

We have to use our own photos and a quote we like. A delightful idea. This time the task is to welcome in 2013.

This sweety is Camille; quote by Lord Alfred Tennyson, frame by Jerry Jones (Shadowhouse Creations).

(Lord Tennyson)

I wish I could give the whole world a hug

Queria poder abraçar o mundo todo!

Hi, everybody! I missed being here and visit your blog and your art! Life got a little complicated, I suffered some losses, but I guess I survived...

I wish you all peace and joy in 2013. By the way, this is my contribution to Take a Word which theme this week is PURPLE AND TURQUOISE.

Even angels pray

Até os anjos oram.

Hello! I did this angelic piece for Take a Word which theme this week is ANGEL.

I've not been around lately because I moved to a smaller apartment and I'm still struggling to turn this place into a home. I hope I can soon figure everything out and finally find time to play with you all again.

Thanks for visiting and for leaving a comment.

Angel in foreground by Tigg-stock (deviantArt); blue angel by Nilton Mendes; Wall by Shadowh3 (deviantArt).

Shadow creatures meet Mr. Bones

This party is giving me the creeps. Time to get out!

Hi, fellows. This week the theme in The Three Muses is SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES! Here is my attempt.

Mr. Bones is from a Antikamnia calendar (thanks Johanna for the tip); the boy behind the door is a Pringle Hills Studio freebie; the wiched girl is a free wallpaper; the background is the Versailles Ballroom by ED resources (DeviantArt).

Olá, amigos. Nesta semana o tema em The Three Muses é "Algo ruim vem por aí". Esta é minha tentativa.

A rainha das flores

Hello! Take a Word this week asked for ROSES. I made a digital collage using only photos I took of the roses my mother grows in her garden. Thanks for visiting!

Olá! Esta semana Take a Word pediu ROSAS.

Fading colors of the past

Hello, friends. The Three Muses asked for something VINTAGE. I did a remake of this collage, which I never liked much. I like the new version more. Hope you enjoy it too.

Thanks to Beth Rimmer (some elements) and Kim Klassen (textures). Background is a photo of mine.

Olá, amigos. As três musas pediram algo VINTAGE.

Hi there! Take a Word asked for a POSTER this time and I made this one for the play currently staged by my daughter's theater group. The photos are actually screen shots of a teaser they did to promote the play.

Behind the curtains

Hi there! This week, the challenge in The Three Muses is THE SEA. Good occasion for some mermaids, or at least one, better than that only if she inhabits the Caribbean sea and has a slight resemblance to Daryl Hanna. The curtains represents that this is only a dream and you are back to cold wind and luckily wild geese heading South :0) .

The background is a photo of mine. Mermaid is a blending of two Daryl Hanna's photos.

Balloons in the desert

Hi! This week the theme is BALLOON in Take a Word. It seems to me that the beauty of hot air balloons  can be better appreciated in the arid landscape of deserts, don't you think? I have my doubts regarding the opinion of the thorny devil though. Traveling on one of these beauties is a dream of mine I intend to fulfill anytime soon.

Thanks to Kim Klassen for the texture, everything else was googled and altered.

Roses

Hi there! The Three Muses asked us to JOURNAL A QUOTE,  a song title or a single word. It's Spring down here and we have flowers everywhere that's why roses came to my mind. I chose a poem and a quote by George Eliot. I tried to emulate a journal page, but though I love digital art I'm never satisfied with the result when it takes to journaling. Never mind...

Thanks to MC Designs, Miss Snoopy25 and Tootypups.

Palimpsest

Hello! Take a Word asked for some MANUSCRIPT in our art. Sim and Marie introduced me to the word PALIMPSEST which is a manuscript page from a scroll or book from which the text has been scraped off and which can be used again. The theme reminded me of the movie The Pillow Book and this is the result.

Girl: Etsakoi (Deviant art); Background: Center for Imaging Science.

Bluerred Memories

Hi there! My "Bluerred Memories" is my contribution to this week theme in Take a Word: BLUE. Thanks for passing by.

Background and texture: pareeerica; sunbathing beauty: Beth Rimmer.

“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others.
My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Hello! The theme is ZETTI in Take a Word and this my attempt. I wish it was more whimsical, but my muse had her own plans...

Thanks to pareeerica for the background and the texture. The graffiti is a photo of mine.

Olá! O tema é ZETTI no Take a Word e esta é minha tentativa.

Turquoise world

Hi! The Three Muses challenge to us for this week is to create something TURQUOISE.

I started with this very 50s dress I found on Web. I thought it would be interesting to match it to a 50s fashion sketch instead of a fashion runaway photo. Obviously I had to do some frankensteinization before I could have a perfect fit.  I kind of like the result.

Background: pareeerica and Daftopia; elements (hugely altered) by Angie Young and MC Designs.

Oi! O desafio do The Three Muses é criar algo TURQUESA.

Primavera

Hello! The theme for this week in Take a Word is HEARTS-AND-FLOWERS. It's lovely 'cause in my corner of the world the Spring is beginning. Looking forward for some rain, Brasília is awfully dry this time of the year.

The lady in the garden (James Garden - Toronto) is Loretta Young in a black and white photo that I cut out and added color.

Sweet school days

Hi! The challenge in The Three Muses is SCHOOL DAYS and this is my interpretation. I guess not everyone have sweet memories from their school days (I had good and bad moments...), but when I found this cute vintage schoolgirl I couldn't resist...

Thanks to Carol Anne's Boutique for the sweetie  (colored) and to Dede Smith for everything else (altered).

Oi! O desafio no  The Three Muses  é TEMPOS DE ESCOLA e esta é a minha interpretação.

Unlock your future!

Hi there! The theme is NUMBERS in Take a Word and I went for numerology. Have you ever try a fortune teller (or tarologist, astrologist, numerologist, psychic, medium)? I confess I have...

Thanks to Beth Rimmer and Tumblefish Studios.

Invictus

Texture: Kim Klassen

Hi there! This week the theme in The Three Muses is MASCULINE! The muses are kind of tired of all those flowers and hearts and Victorian babes. :)

I decided to pay a tribute to Nelson Mandela. His courage, tenacity and tolerance in his long fight for equal rights in South Africa are remarkable and an example for younger generations.

I hope this is masculine enough for my dear muses. Thanks for visiting.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishment the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley (1849 – 1903)

Oi! Esta semana o tema em  The Three Muses é masculino! :)

Invictus

Me encontra e me encontrará, sem medo.

Não importa quão estreito o portão
Quão repleta de castigo a sentença,
Eu sou o senhor de meu destino
Eu sou o capitão de minha alma.

William Ernest Henley (1849 – 1903)

Obrigada a Luigi Rotelli pela tradução.

Don't watch the clock

Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going. - Sam Levenson

Hello! The theme word this week in Take a Word is CLOCKWORK and it came to my mind a neighbor of mine that is absolutely crazy about clocks but doesn't bother to set the hour as long as the clocks keep working... Maybe that's why she's 45 but looks like 25!

Background by Pareeerica; texture by Kim Klassen; clocks: Finecrafted Designs and Chantigg. Girl is an assemblage I've made.

Dancing in a empty room

- Bow wow arf arf (Forget about dancing, I have to pee now!)

Hi folks! The Three Muses challenged us to do something black & white with a dash of color. I chose blue (kind of). I hope you enjoy, thanks for visiting.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance - Alan Watts.

Background by Pareeerica (altered); the gals on the sidewalls: Dior runway fall 2011; gal on back wall: Dior Fall 2011 Makeup; gal in black gown (altered): Lucy in Disguise (Lilly Allen's shop).

Olá! The Three Muses  nos desafiou a fazer algo P&B com um toque de cor. Eu escolhi o azul.

Goth fairy & CO

Hi there! In Take a Word the theme word for this week is TATTERED. I was not in the vintage mood, so I went for gothic with some tattered clothes, wings and textures. The fairy is an assemblage of several parts I googled. The spooky doll is available here. Thanks for passing by and for your kind comments.

Doll hand made by Jodi Cain; Background by Digital Blasphemy; textures by Cloaks and Tigers (deviantArt); wings by Tracie76Stock (dA).

Strawberry kids

Hi, fellows! This week The Three Muses challenged us to do something with STRAWBERRIES. Problem is I like them so much I couldn't stop on the first one...  Besides, I found so many lovely kids wearing strawberry dresses and I couldn't squeeze them in only one picture...

I introduce you to... my strawberry bedroom!

Come in baby,  there are plenty of strawberries in here.

Welcome to my birthday party! Can I get you a piece of cake?

Oi, pessoal!

Movie Memories

I have a theory that movies operate on the level of dreams, where you dream yourself.
Meryl Streep

The theme word in Take a Word is MEMORIES. I was stuck with this one, then I decided to work with my movie memories. The first try was a mess because there were too many movies. I started all over again with this tiny selection of my favorite movies: Rear Window, Wings of Desire, Blade Runner, Singing in the Rain, The piano, Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Amélie, Some Like it Hot, Amarcord.

“People who LIKE movies have a favorite. People who LOVE movies couldn't possibly choose.” ― Nicole Yatsonsky

O tema em Take a Word é "memórias". - Nicole Yatsonsky.

Through the window

Hi, folks. This is my contribution to The Three Muses challenge: WINDOWS AND/OR DOOR. I chose windows 'cause the idea of peering through a window has a hint of forbidden that seems to me, well, attractive.

Melancholic lady is Clara Bow in a B&W photo I colored before; window by Lynette Killam; foreground by Createwings Designs.

Marilyn Forever

The awareness of her own beauty and the impact it caused in people has never been enough to make her feel loved, safe, adequate. Her beauty combined with a hint of fragility and melancholy have impressed me since my childhood. This is my contribution to this week challenge  at Collage Obsession: ORANGE.

Background is my own; texture by The Sum of All Crafts.

Butterfly beauty

Hi! Who can resist butterflies? I can't, but this time I wanted to try something different to accomplish this week theme in Take a Word: BUTTERFLIES, of course. It ended up quite simple I guess, but butterflies don't need much to look good... :)

Thanks to Shoofly-Stock and Katibear-Stock (DeviantArt).

George, is that you?

I'm here, George! Don't be so full of yourself! Is that because I'm just an ectoplasm?

Hello! This time the challenge in The Three Muses is to do a steampunk makeover in someone you admire... As I'm just an ordinary  woman, I picked George again. I never have enough of him.. :)

Thanks to Finecrafted Designs and Mr. Whiskers.

Life is messy

Not enough to be a failed actress and have a dysfunctional family, she now had her own little devil,  but she was OK with it... “I stop fighting my inner demons. We're on the same side now.” ― Darynda Jones, Second Grave on the Left

Hi there! This is my MESSY entry for Take a Word. Unfortunately it didn't turn out as messy as I would like. I guess I'm more neat than I figured out :). “Real life is messy, inconsistent, and it's seldom when anything ever really gets resolved. It's taken me a long time to realize that.” ― Alan Moore, Watchmen

The cat and the moon

Hi pals! This is my interpretation for this week theme in Take a Word: MOON.
THE CAT AND THE MOON
W. B. Yeats (1865-1939)
HE cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
    The creeping cat, looked up.
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
    Troubled his animal blood.
    Minnaloushe runs in the grass
    Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance?
    When two close kindred meet,
What better than call a dance?
    Maybe the moon may learn,
    Tired of that courtly fashion,
    A new dance turn.
    Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
    From moonlit place to place,
    The sacred moon overhead
    Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
    Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
    Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
    His changing eyes.

The cat and the spider are photos of mine. Moon and starry night were googled.

It's always Summer

In Brazil it's Summer all year (or almost). Summer suits beach, diving, carnival, ice cream, joy. So this is my interpretation of the theme WEATHER OR NOT that The Three Muses proposes this week.

Music: my medicine

Music is the medicine of the breaking heart.  ~Leigh Hunt

To me, music is not only medicine for broken hearts, but for lonely hearts, tired hearts, hopeless hearts. Moreover, it brings color to the joyful moments we share with those we love.
I did this piece by blending two of my own backgrounds and a sheet of music. It's my contribution to this week theme in Take a Word: MUSIC.

Lovely insects

Hello! I've been working so much that I couldn't find time and disposition to play with my digital collages... Fortunately, I managed to play this week. The theme is INSECTS in Take a Word. As I'm not a big fan of them I decided that showing you some cute babies dressed as insects wouldn't be out of topic! :) They are so adorable that I doubled the bet!

Indoor cat out of bounds

Definitely an indoor cat...

Hi, folks! This week the challenge in The Three Muses is OUT OF BOUNDS. That reminded me of Fifi my neighbor's kitten that absolutely hates when her owner decides that she needs to be in touch with nature. Fifi is determined to no longer tolerate this out-of-bounds behavior.

A seventies wedding

Love is you,
you and me.
Love is knowing,
we can be.
Love - John Lennon - 1970

Cherry and Ricky got married in 1970 and that's all I know about them for I really can't imagine where their photo came from. What I know is that I could reimagine their wedding keeping the romance but with a tiny touch of the seventies psychedelia and so I did.

This is my offering to Take a Word; their theme this week is WEDDING.

My bird stamp album page

I hope you love birds too. It is economical. It saves going to heaven.
Emily Dickinson

I wasn't going to do anything like this, but I couldn't chose my favorite bird stamp... Then, I decided to post all of them (or at least all those I was able to tuck in my page).  This stamp album page is my contribution to this week challenge in The Three Muses: POSTAGE STAMPS.

Friendship is precious

Original B&W picture by Philippe Halsman. I enlarged, colored and applied filters.
Quote by Thomas Jefferson.

The theme word for this week at Take a Word is FRIENDS and I'm very honored to be the guest host. The problem was providing a sample good enough.  I made a first attempt, but didn't like the result. So I decided to try a different proposition, I liked. Then I decided to try to improve that first. It was not bad. As I didn't know which one to choose, I sent the two and left the hard work for Marie. She was kind enough to post both. Thanks, dear Marie, for the opportunity.

Original illustrations by Ida Rentoul Outhwaite and Jessie Willcox Smith.
Background are cutouts of a gorgeous quilt. Texture by Kim Klassen.

Aí, decidi tentar melhorar a primeira tentativa.

Helter Skelter Paradise

When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
"Helter Skelter"
(Lennon/McCartney)

I have to confess, for me Helter Skelter was a very noisy Beatles song that was misunderstood by maniac Charles Manson and his followers.
Only today when looking for interesting structures for The Three Muses challenge I found out  what it is! I was amazed, it's so beautiful. We don't have these slides in our parks, only the aquatic version (without the tower). Well, I don't know if it is appropriate for the theme (ARCHITECTURE), but it is man-made and you can go inside...

Texture bu Kim Klassen.

Dream a little dream of me

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

I chose this delightful song as an inspiration for my contribution to this week theme in Take a Word: DREAM. Dream a little dream of me came out in 1931, music by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt, lyrics by Gus Kahn. Several artists recorded it, including Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Shore. but the version that always come to my mind is the 1968 recording by The Mamas and The Papas.

Background by Createwings Designs.

Three times Louise

This week The Three Muses asked for VINTAGE GLAMOUR. To me that means Louise Brooks, the quintessential flapper.

I cut out and color the images. There's a Kim Klassen texture and a background I found in a russian site (I guess) I don't know who the author is.
